I was immediately intrigued by this post when I read it at
Cultivate Create. I am in love with my home, It's so important to us. It was my grandparents home, and then my father lived here before he passed. We wanted to buy the home after that and here we are. This home was built by my grandfather and they moved in when I was 9 years, I practically grew up here. It was important to me that his home was kept in our family because of all the memories we have here and I will be passing it down to my children. I don't know about you but I like putting "my style" in everything I do, especially where I live. While I love all the homes that are decorated perfectly and so clean you could eat out of the corner of the room {that's always the dirtiest spot on the floor in this house}, I think it is important to have pieces in your home that tell a story, your story.
The decor of your home says a lot about you, and I think it tells the type of person you are. It could be anything from the type of decor you like to the family heirlooms that have been passed down to you or given to you. It could be just that you like bright colors and decided to paint the living room all kinds of colors. My home is full of stories from the things that were given to me or passed down to me. Here are some of my favorites and important ones. We would be here all day if I shared all the decor in my house and why I have it.
This is a perfume bottle that was at my great grandmothers. I remember always admiring it. When she passed it was one of the things I absolutely wanted. It's always been the exact same.
This chair belonged to my step-dad. I've always loved it, it has a bamboo beachy feel to it, and it turns. It's a great addition to my beachy room.
These are a few pictures in my hallway. The top left is my Mom as a little girl. The top right is my grandmother when she graduated and there are two little pictures in each corner of this picture. The one in the left bottom corner is off my mother when she graduated and the one the right bottom corner is off my mom, and my two uncles. The one on the bottom, framed, is my grandmother when she was a little girl. All of these pictures are important to me, and very special. These also came from my great grandmothers home.
The table belonged to one of my aunts, I believe it was my great great aunt. I'm not sure of her name because I never met her. I would have to ask my grandmother. It is a 3 legged table and is not very sturdy. It is flat on the backside. We use it in a smaller place, that looked empty and added two treasure chest, a family portrait and the kids bedtime story books.
-Basket, My great grandmother use to have a wood burning stove in her home. I use to love the fires in it and never realized how beautiful it actually was until I was an adult. She use to keep this basket next to her fireplace with all her wood it in, and with her gloves laying on top.
-Cowboy Boots, These are my daddys. Probably the second most important thing to him beside his guitars. When he passed I made sure to get all the things he would have with him at all times. This being one of them.
This Guitar was one of my daddys first. It sits in the corner of my dining room. I absolutely love having it, however I would probably have a heart attack if anyone touches it. It still is exactly the way he left it.
With the leather on it and all. He always had a piece of leather tied around his guitar and on his wrist as a bracelet.
The are chairs from my great grandmothers as well. I love the country style of these chairs. I've contemplated painting them to living them up, I'm just very unsure of if that is what I want to do.
A candy dish that my granny gave me. It was her grandmothers, so that would make it my great great grandmothers. I keep this out of harms way{the children}.
This lamp is a personal favorite of mine and I had to have it when I saw it at a local thrift store. It is a great addition to my country kitchen, and I like it without the shade on.
I think I liked it so much because of the detail. The entire lamp looks like it was broke and every single little piece was glued back together. The detail is amazing.
This sign is a gift I recieve from my mother. It says, "Family, a place to go where one will always feel at home. There you will always find someone to talk to, a shoulder to lean on. Where love is spoken and laughter is heard close by. Memories are born there that we hold in our hearts forever. The Scotts Cherish the Family.
My grandmother, Ma, had a thing for light houses. She has different moments where she likes certain things and then all of a sudden she is over it and on to her next interest. Light Houses will always make me think of her. This is one of the beautiful pieces she had. It now hangs in my hallway.
This little guy sits on my desk, right in front of my computer. He reminds me of my momma! She loves clowns and use to have an entire collection. This is one of the couple that I kept of hers.
The clock her was given to me by grandfather. He knows how much I love this style and it was perfect for my desk. The hummingbird lamp is just an addition I added, but the little pink flower is a flower my daughter had to purchase for me from Hobby Lobby for Mothers day! <3

I love all the stories your items have to tell. They are such special treasures! (Being a guitar player, I especially love your dad's guitar.) Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Amanda! That is one of my favorite pieces in our home. Our home was his, in it was a full sound proof recording studio. it is not part my office and the rest is the kids sound proof play room & our homeschool room. I wish we were closer. One thing I regret never learning was how to play the guitar.
Hope you have a great week!
