{Monthly Memories} June 2015

All photos © Raised Southern 2015

Hello Y'all! How has your Summer been going? I hope it's going great and you're having a safe adventurous one. We sure have and have had a lot of great memories. Most of June was spent on the beach and planning to travel to Pennsylvania so we have a lot of photos coming from there and many in our Southern Snapshots. June was absolutely full of memories! Memories that I carry in my heart so close and bring tears to my eyes when I think about them. I'm so blessed to know all these wonderful people and have them be apart of mine and my families life. They are all so very special to us. I could go on and on but instead I'll share my photos!

Here's our June Monthly Memories!

6 Tips for Flying with Kids or First Time Flyers

As you may have previously read in We Flew, we recently embarked on an adventure. At least that's how we started talking to our daughter about us flying for her first time. My cousin got married June 20th to an amazing women. I'm so happy for the two of them and we couldn't be happier or more honored to have been apart of their special day! I was very nervous about flying especially with my 8 year old daughter. After all the anxiety, stress, and sleepless nights (let's be honest, I don't have many of those because I can sleep anywhere, anytime), but with all the stress and anxiety I had there really was no need for it. Our flight experience was wonderful and I thought I would share with you how we made it that way. Here are my tips.

-You will need food-
When you travel what is the best apart of it? The snacks of course, at least to the kids anyway. While you can take food through security I prefer not to. I may pack a granola bar, banana, or crackers in my bag, I find it's always more fun to buy some snacks at the airport. At least one or two things. Kids are also always so excited about buying things, anything. Let them pick out one or two special snacks that are something they aren't normally allowed to have. My daughter chose Doritos and mini Starbursts and of course you have to have a drink, which what is better then chocolate milk & it had a lid. (You know how important a lid is with children)

-Buy a new friend for your adventure-

We Flew!!!

Not like an actual butterfly, but we flew to Pennsylvania! It was my daughters first time and I must admit for the past 4 months or so I have had anxiety about flying. I, myself do not mind flying. I actually love to fly and love looking out over the clouds. There is no site more beautiful then that. So my anxiety came from the fact it was going to my 8 year old diva princess's first time flying and she isn't always the easiest to go with a plan. She gets scared easily and when she does she is not the easiest to calm down. She doesn't like to be rushed, and well that's what happens when you have to fly through the ATL, and I was just nervous that it was going to be a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from which would make for a long day of traveling there and back, and a cranky little girl and mommy. I was not looking forward to any of that.

Thankfully we had none of the above. The little diva princess was an angel! We talked a lot about the trip and that we were going to be flying. She had also been to the airport previously to take her great-grandma for her trip and they allowed them to watch the plane come in and take off. So in some sense she knew what to expect. We talked about it being loud, but also talked about the snacks we would get, the snacks and drinks they would give us, and all the stuff she would be able to do while we flew. She was very excited and such a big girl. I forget how big she is and always worry about the things that may effect her and she always surprises me and shows me she can do it and will have no problems doing it.

Where did June Go? Only 6 months left in 2015

Can you believe that there are only 6 months left in 2015? We are halfway through this year and I swear I don't even know where the month of June went. May was such a blur with the kids birthday and the end of school and now it seems that June has been the same, a blur. First it was the start of Summer, a weekend of birthdays, and then out of town for 6 days of fun with family & the wedding of 2015, and now I'm home, relaxed, and back in the swing of things and it's already July. I feel like I have missed so much, and I have, and for that I have to apologize because I have been MIA in more ways then just at Raised Southern. I hope you all are ready for a full month of fun!! Have a great rest of the week!

{Crafty on Tuesday} Cross Stitch with the Kids *Fail*

Hey Y'all, have you been getting crafty?? We haven't because we just came back from Pennsylvania last Monday and have been trying to get all caught up with work, unpack, clean the house up, etc. Well of course I didn't want to fall off track even more from us being away, so I had to think up something quick and I remembered I bought these two cross stitch patterns from Hobby Lobby for  a few bucks. ( I don't remember the price) and I thought these were absolutely perfect to talk about today on our Crafty Tuesday!

When I was a kid you could find little ones that didn't take much time and were "easy". At least I remember them being easy. I first did cross-stitch with my nanny. She wasn't technically my nanny, but we were family. She was my mom's best friends grandmother and she always would keep my moms BFF's two girls and me on the weekends and we would go to church with her. I've always loved anything crafty. So of course, I thought these would be fun and a good focus activity because the kids have been wild since the last day of school. On a "It's Summertime" high, where all they wanna do is go go go..... Well boy was I wrong.
